SwitchBot's 30-metre Permanent Outdoor Lights mix RGB effects with real warm and cool white LEDs and join Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa via Matter.

Permanent eave lights only make sense if you'll use them on ordinary nights too. Dedicated white LEDs and Matter support are what make that likely here.
What's new. SwitchBot has launched Permanent Outdoor Lights, a 30-metre lighting system you mount under eaves, balconies or a pergola and leave up all year. It's on sale now from SwitchBot's website and Amazon for $239.99 (CA$299.99), the company announced.
The key specs.
- 72 LEDs across six 5 m segments (about one every 42 cm), with extension cables for runs of up to 36 m.
- RGBIC + warm white + cool white: 16 million colours with multi-colour effects, plus separate white LEDs, adjustable from 2700K to 6500K and dimmable from 1 to 100%.
- Brightness: up to 40 lm per LED and 2,600 lm in total, by SwitchBot's own lab measurements.
- Weatherproofing: IP67 light strings, an IP65 controller and adapter, UV-resistant housings, rated for -20 °C to 60 °C and a 55,000-hour LED lifespan.
- Control: native Matter over Wi‑Fi, so it works with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings and Home Assistant without a SwitchBot hub. You still need a Matter controller, such as a HomePod mini. A wired controller with 10 brightness levels keeps working when Wi‑Fi is down, and a built-in mic syncs effects to music.
Our take. Most permanent lighting kits are sold as holiday decorations that look great in December and stay dark the rest of the year. SwitchBot's pitch is that dedicated white LEDs make them proper everyday porch and path lighting. That matters because white light mixed from RGB usually looks cold or tinted. Matter support is the other big win. You can put the lights into the same evening routine as your door lock or cameras, whichever ecosystem you use.
There are trade-offs. 72 LEDs over 30 m means widely spaced points of light rather than a continuous line, and the brightness figures are SwitchBot's own. Installation also means working at roof height, with tape or screws. Govee took a similar approach with its Outdoor Deck Lights 2, so Matter is quickly becoming standard for outdoor lighting.
