Night City is getting another free update. On the same day its new anime premiered on Netflix, CD Projekt Red announced the Edgerunners 2 Update, also known as Update 2.5, for Cyberpunk 2077, according to the studio's press centre. Here is what is confirmed so far.
Release date and platforms
The update arrives on Thursday, 22 October 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is free. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow "shortly", CD Projekt Red says, without giving a date.
Content inspired by Edgerunners 2
The patch is tied to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the standalone sequel to the 2022 anime, made again with Japanese studio TRIGGER. All ten episodes went live on Netflix on 20 October. The studio promises "content inspired by the anime as well as a range of other new items and features", but hasn't listed them yet.
Cyberware customisation and dual-wielding
The first concrete hints come from the official Cyberpunk site, which teases cyberware customisation and a new dual-wielding playstyle. How these systems work, and whether they change the skill trees, is what the livestream should explain.
REDstreams on 21 October
CD Projekt Red will show the update on Wednesday, 21 October, at 5 p.m. CEST (18:00 Kyiv time) in a special REDstreams episode on Twitch, YouTube and Steam. The official patch notes are due the same day.
What the first Edgerunners update brought
There is a precedent. In September 2022 the studio released Patch 1.6, the original Edgerunners Update, alongside the first series. It added anime-inspired gear and secrets, new gigs and the wardrobe system that lets you change V's look without losing armour stats. Update 2.5 follows the same playbook, and Cyberpunk 2077 has had years of fixes and the Phantom Liberty expansion since then.
