Apple has made it official: its next launch is called "Pro and Tell", and it takes place in Los Angeles on Wednesday, 28 October, at 10 a.m. Pacific time. Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak posted the glowing invite artwork on Monday with the line "Can't wait to pro and tell next week," and invitations went out to press and influencers, 9to5Mac reports.

Watch the time if you're in Europe. Clocks go back on 25 October, while the US switches a week later, so 10 a.m. PT will be 19:00 in Kyiv and 18:00 in Berlin that day.

A different kind of event

This is Apple's second launch in a month. On 13 October in New York, the "Welcome home" event introduced the HomeView smart display, the HomePod mini 2 and a new Apple TV 4K. Engadget notes that the Los Angeles gathering is said to be an all-day affair: a hands-on launch "experience" for invited media rather than a classic keynote.

What's expected

Apple hasn't said a word about products. The name and the invite point squarely at the Mac, and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has laid out what he expects:

  • Touchscreen MacBook Pro, 14- and 16-inch, with OLED displays, a Dynamic Island in place of the notch, a "significantly lighter" design and M5 Pro / M5 Max chips.
  • iPad mini with OLED, a revamped speaker system and a front camera moved for landscape video calls.
  • M6 iMac and an entry-level M6 MacBook Pro, looking like the current models. The M6 chip debuted in August in the latest Mac mini.

Last weekend Gurman said the touchscreen MacBook Pro could be announced around 27 October and reach stores around 6 November. The official date now fits that window. Everything about specs, prices and availability is still unconfirmed until Apple speaks.

Should you wait?

If you're about to buy a MacBook Pro, iMac or iPad mini, waiting eight days costs little. New models usually push older ones down in price or out of stock.
