Apple has announced HomeView, its first smart display for the home. It combines a speaker, a 7-inch screen and smart home controls, and it is built around Siri AI, the new, more conversational version of Siri. Pre-orders opened on 13 October, and Apple says the device will be available from 13 November.
Design and display
HomeView pairs a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with a domed aluminium speaker base, joined by a stainless steel hinge so the screen can tilt. It comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray. Apple says brightness adjusts automatically from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits, so it can sit in a sunny kitchen or on a nightstand, and the interface shows simpler information when you are across the room and more detail as you get closer.
There is also a wall-mounted version (space gray or silver) with the same screen. It attaches with one of three Schneider Home mounts: a USB-C connector ($59.95), an AC wired mount ($79.95), or a PoE mount ($129.95) due in early 2027.
One screen, several people
HomeView recognises up to six people by their face. Each person gets their own Home Screen, and personal content from Messages, Calendar, Reminders or Find My appears only for the person it belongs to. Apple says that content is shown only when the enrolled user is recognised and their paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and recently unlocked.
Siri AI and the smart home
Siri AI on HomeView can answer general questions, and with a paired Apple Intelligence iPhone or iPad it can also use personal context such as calendar events and messages. Conversations continue in the Siri app on other Apple devices.
For the smart home, HomeView works as a dashboard for lights, thermostats, locks, blinds and cameras. A dedicated camera face can stream up to nine camera feeds at once. With a supported iCloud+ plan, compatible cameras can recognise people, pets, packages and vehicles. HomeView can also detect the sound of smoke or CO alarms and send an alert.
Sound and other features
The tabletop model has two full-range drivers in the display, plus a down-firing woofer and two passive radiators in the base. Apple also lists FaceTime with Center Stage, Intercom, step-by-step recipes with timers, Apple Music, Podcasts and multiroom audio with HomePod speakers.
Price and availability
- Price: $299 for either model (US).
- Where: Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the UK and the US. Singapore pre-orders start on 15 October, and South Africa will sell it through resellers.
- EU: HomeView is not on sale in the European Union, because Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS there. Apple says it is talking to the EU.
Siri AI on HomeView launches as a beta and works in English only.
