RedMagic OS 12 (Android 17) rollout: which phones and when

RedMagic has published its schedule for RedMagic OS 12, the gaming brand's new Android 17-based software. It debuted last week on the new RedMagic 12 Pro+, and now existing phones and tablets have dates, as GSMArena reports from RedMagic's Chinese announcement.

The key caveat: this timeline is for Chinese models. RedMagic has not said when global versions of the same devices will get the update, and global builds often arrive later.

What's new in RedMagic OS 12

• Redesigned interface with a large clock style on the home and lock screens.
• AI features, including an "AI Magic Island" and a new assistant with a memory function.
• One-tap file transfer that works with Apple devices.
• A reworked game space that changes its look to match each game, plus an esports training area with built-in aiming and reaction mini-games.
• X-Gravity 3.0, RedMagic's platform for cloud gaming, console streaming and playing mobile games on a bigger screen.

How it compares

RedMagic's dates put it behind some rivals: OnePlus already ships stable Android 17 on the OnePlus 15, and Samsung has published its own One UI 9 eligibility list. For owners of older RedMagic phones, the spring 2027 dates mean waiting about half a year.
