Intel confirms Razor Lake-AX for 2028 with ~700 TOPS
Intel has put its long-rumoured Razor Lake-AX chip on an official robotics roadmap for 2028, rated at about 700 TOPS of AI compute. Laptops are not confirmed yet.

Razor Lake-AX finally has a date and a number. What it still lacks is everything a PC buyer would actually ask about.

After months of leaks, Intel has publicly named Razor Lake-AX. According to South Korea's The Elec, as summarised by Notebookcheck, Intel executive Cho Min-sung showed a robotics roadmap at the Semiconductors Powering Humanoids conference on October 16. It lists Razor Lake-AX for 2028 with roughly 700 TOPS of AI performance.
What Intel actually said
- Today's Panther Lake-based robotics platform is rated at up to 180 TOPS combined.
- Nova Lake comes to robotics in early 2027, followed by Razor Lake-AX in 2028, close to four times Panther Lake on paper.
- Intel expects customers to start mass-producing autonomous mobile robots in 2027 and humanoid robots in 2028.
Intel did not say which precision the 700 TOPS figure uses, or how it splits between CPU, GPU and NPU. There is also no word on power, memory capacity or graphics performance.
Our take
This is a real confirmation, but a narrow one. Intel has pinned a year and a headline number on a chip, and framed it around humanoid robots rather than laptops. Everything PC enthusiasts have been excited about still comes from leaks: a large Xe3P integrated GPU with 16 or 32 cores, possible on-package memory like Lunar Lake, and reused Nova Lake CPU cores. None of that is official.
Still, it would be odd to confirm a widely rumoured big APU only for robots. The obvious target is the class of machine AMD has staked out with Ryzen AI Max, such as the 192 GB Ryzen AI Halo developer box. If Razor Lake-AX reaches mini PCs and laptops, memory will matter as much as TOPS for running models locally, which is why our laptop for local AI guide and RAM explainer put capacity first.
Until Intel shares power and memory details, treat 700 TOPS as a roadmap target, not a reason to wait two years for your next computer.
