Rebel Wolves has shared the patch notes for Update 1.1 for The Blood of Dawnwalker, the dark fantasy RPG from former CD Projekt Red developers that launched in early September. The patch is planned for next week, and the studio posted the full list on X on 16 October, Eurogamer reports. Several changes match what game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz told Eurogamer last month. These are the highlights.

A potion to rebuild your character

The new Draught of Mind Rebirth lets you forget every ability you have learned across Swordmastery, Witchcraft and Vampirism. The time you invested is returned, so you can put it into a different set of skills. If an early build no longer fits how you like to play, you no longer have to start a new save.

Two easy difficulty options

The difficulty previously called Story is renamed Forgiving. Below it sits a brand-new Story mode with additional combat assist, aimed at players who mainly want the narrative and the quests rather than demanding fights.

You can pet the dogs and cats

The studio describes it as "directional animal petting", a nod to the game's directional combat system. A small touch, but a welcome one.

Bigger, fuller subtitles

New subtitle settings let you increase the font size and turn on subtitles for all dialogue lines, not only the main conversations. It is a useful accessibility upgrade, especially if you play on a TV from the sofa.

Smoother combat and an updated FrameGen

Update 1.1 brings a newer version of the frame generation (FrameGen) technology with dedicated settings. Combat gets adjusted animations and camera movement, better targeting, locking on and disengaging from enemies, and traversal improvements so Shadowstep and Planeshift attach to surfaces more reliably. If you play on a high-refresh screen, our gaming monitor guide explains how frame rate and refresh rate work together.

Uncensored in Japan, plus 1,100 more fixes

Blood and gore will no longer be censored in the Japanese version on Steam. On top of the headline items, the notes promise more than 1,100 other improvements and fixes. Eurogamer gave the game four stars at launch. For other fresh releases, see our look at the Resident Evil remakes on Switch 2 and Steam's new Achievement Sets beta.
