Three Capcom survival-horror remakes are now playable on Nintendo Switch 2. The company’s IR press release locked the dates; here is what matters if you are shopping today.
Digital launch is today
Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition all have a digital Switch 2 release date of October 16, 2026 — the same day as this article. Capcom positions the drop as part of a wider multi-platform push.
Physical copies land in January
For collectors, Capcom lists physical editions of all three titles on January 29, 2027. If you need a cartridge now, you will be waiting about three and a half months after the download.
What each SKU includes (as named)
Capcom’s product table names RE2 Deluxe Edition, plain RE3, and RE4 Gold Edition. It does not itemize every DLC pack in the IR note; check the eShop listing for the exact bundle contents in your region before you buy.
Monster Hunter Wilds is dated too
In the same announcement, Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for Switch 2 on December 4, 2026 (it already shipped on PS5, Xbox Series and PC in February 2025). The Ascendance expansion is listed for Switch 2 in 2027 without a day.
Capcom’s stated goal
Capcom says putting big series titles on new platforms is meant to grow the user base. It cites the Resident Evil franchise at more than 213 million cumulative game units and Monster Hunter at more than 131 million (figures as of June 30, 2026 in that release).
What we still do not know from Capcom IR
The IR release does not publish Switch 2 prices, performance targets (docked vs handheld frame rates) or cloud-save / cross-progression details. For those, wait for Capcom’s consumer store pages or Nintendo eShop listings in your country.
Handheld horror remakes on day one of a late-year slate is a clear Capcom bet on Switch 2 owners who want big single-player campaigns without a TV — just verify the SKU and price before you tap Buy.
