Kia is preparing a new midsize electric SUV called EV7, according to a leaked internal document first reported by KoreanCarBlog and covered by Electrek. Minutes from Kia's Employment Stability Committee state that "production of mid-range electric SUV 'EV7' to proceed" at the company's Gwangju factory in South Korea.
Where it fits
The EV7 would slot between the EV6 and the three-row EV9, filling the last gap in a lineup that already includes the EV2, EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6, EV9 and the PV5 van. Beyond the name, segment and factory, no specs, price or launch date have been revealed — treat everything else you see as speculation until Kia confirms it.
Earlier this year Kia said it is developing a new EV platform to improve performance and cost, and at its April 2026 CEO Investor Day it set a goal of 14 EV models by 2030, with EVs making up 66% of its European sales by then.
Kia's sales momentum
Kia sold 291,219 vehicles in October, up 10.3% from a year earlier — its eighth straight month of year-over-year growth. In the US it is leaning on hybrids, in Europe on full EVs; the new $30K-class EV3 just reached record numbers at US dealers.
