Crimson Desert's first big expansion is just over a week away. Pearl Abyss has released a Features Overview video and a full feature list for Charting the Unknown, the DLC for Crimson Desert Enhanced. According to the official announcement, it launches on 29 October at 3 pm PT, which is 01:00 Kyiv time on 30 October, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store. It arrives after a short delay announced in late September. Pre-orders are open, and everyone who pre-orders gets two in-game diving sets.

Here's what's in it.

The Great Ocean and ship building

A new explorable region, the Great Ocean of Pywel, comes with its own storyline. Once you've set up the Greymane Camp at Howling Hill, a quest line unlocks shipbuilding. You can send comrades on a ship-building mission at a port or buy a ship from a Fleet Office manager, then customise it and sail to new islands to fight enemy forces and set up strongholds.

Underwater exploration

Kliff, Oongka and Damiane can now dive to find sunken ruins, treasure chests, creatures and mounts. No special unlock is needed, but you have a breath meter, so gear such as a diving suit extends your time underwater.

Romance and marriage

Building trust with certain characters can lead to romance and eventually marriage. Close friends may also visit the Greymane Camp once it reaches a certain level, which makes the base feel more lived-in.

Build your own house

The upgraded housing system lets you design a home from the ground up, placing walls, windows and other parts, not just decorating rooms. It unlocks after the Greymane faction quest "Luke's Request".

Claim castles

After the main story, you can liberate and claim three castles, then decorate their courtyards and interiors.

Run businesses

You can lease facilities across Pywel, from a restaurant in Vellua to a smithy at Zargan Tankworks. Assign comrades and equipment, choose what to sell and build up each shop's reputation and profits.

Three new stories and the Garden of Trials

Kliff, Oongka and Damiane each get a post-game storyline, started from the Journal after the main story ends. For fighters there's the Garden of Trials, a boss rush against bosses you've faced across Pywel, one after another, with special rewards for finishing.

Pearl Abyss hasn't listed a separate price in these announcements, so check your platform store. Many of the new systems sit behind main-story progress, so if you haven't reached Howling Hill yet, now is a good time to catch up. Upgrading your setup first?
