BYD's all-new Han and third-gen Qin Plus show up in filings
China's MIIT filings reveal a longer, wider BYD Han with up to 520 kW and a bigger third-gen Qin Plus EV, as sales of the current Han keep falling.

BYD's next big sedans have surfaced in China's official vehicle database. The all-new Han and the third-generation Qin Plus appear in the 412th batch of new vehicle filings published on Friday by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), CnEVPost reports. Filings list dimensions and powertrains, but not prices or launch dates.
The all-new Han: bigger and up to 520 kW
The filings cover three battery-electric versions and one plug-in hybrid, all five-seaters. The new Han is 5,156 mm long and 1,969 mm wide, with a 3,030 mm wheelbase. Compared with the Han EV Flash Charging Edition that launched in April, it is 161 mm longer and 59 mm wider, and the wheelbase has grown by 110 mm.
- Rear-wheel drive: two single-motor versions with 245 kW and 300 kW, both limited to 240 km/h.
- All-wheel drive: a 200 kW front motor plus a 320 kW rear motor for 520 kW combined and a 270 km/h top speed.
- Plug-in hybrid: a 1.5-litre engine paired with a 200 kW electric motor, with a 200 km/h top speed.
This car is separate from the even larger Da Han that BYD launched on 13 October, which measures 5,256 mm with a 3,130 mm wheelbase. We covered that model as the BYD Great Han EV.
Third-gen Qin Plus EV
The filed Qin Plus is a battery-electric car measuring 4,840 × 1,900 × 1,498 mm with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. It uses a 100 kW permanent-magnet motor and a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, with a top speed of 170 km/h. BYD's Dynasty sales boss Lu Tian teased the new Qin Plus on Weibo on Friday, though the images in his post showed the DM-i plug-in hybrid rather than the EV in the filing.
| All-new Han | 3rd-gen Qin Plus EV | |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 5,156 mm | 4,840 mm |
| Wheelbase | 3,030 mm | 2,800 mm |
| Powertrains filed | 3 electric, 1 plug-in hybrid | Electric |
| Peak motor output | 245 / 300 kW (RWD), 520 kW (AWD) | 100 kW |
| Top speed | 240–270 km/h (EV), 200 km/h (PHEV) | 170 km/h |
Why BYD needs a refresh
The current Han is struggling. CnEVPost's data shows Han series sales of 2,529 units in September, down 70.9% year on year, and 44,324 units from January to September, down 68.9%. The Qin family has already had several updates this year, including longer-range Qin Plus DM-i and Qin L DM-i versions in January and the new Qin Max in August.
BYD is also pushing abroad, with its seven-seat Atto 8 heading to Europe. If you are weighing an EV, our guide to choosing a home charger covers the next decision.
