Apple's first foldable phone is no longer a pre-order. iPhone Duo went on sale on Friday, 23 October at Apple Store locations around the world, as well as on apple.com and in the Apple Store app, Apple said in a Newsroom post with photos from launch-day queues, including Apple Jing'an in Shanghai.
Where you can buy it
The first wave covers the United States and more than 70 other countries and regions, including the UK, Germany, France, Japan, India, Australia and Canada. A further 28 markets are scheduled for 30 October, as we reported when pre-orders opened.
In stores, Apple is offering hands-on demos, Personal Setup to move data from an old phone, and new Today at Apple sessions called "Say Hello to iPhone Duo" and "Tips: What's New in iOS 27 on iPhone". Trade In, Apple Upgrade leasing, Apple Card Monthly Installments and carrier deals are available where Apple runs them.
The phone in brief
- Displays: a 7.6-inch inner screen with a nano-texture finish and a 5.4-inch outer screen with the same aspect ratio, so content scales proportionally when you open it.
- Chip and battery: A20 Pro, a vapour chamber and a dual-battery design.
- Build: grade 5 titanium in star white and night sky.
- Software: a folding-aware version of iOS 27 with Apple Intelligence 2 and the new Siri AI (availability varies by country and language).
- US price: from $1,999 for 256 GB, up to $3,199 for 2 TB.
Before you buy
Early reviews were broadly positive but not uncritical. Reviewers called it the most polished foldable so far, while flagging the weight, Touch ID instead of Face ID, some apps that are not yet optimised and cameras that trail the Pro models. Our round-up of iPhone Duo reviews has the details, and our battery comparison shows how its 4,883 mAh pack stacks up against other iPhones.
That makes a store visit worth it: open and close the phone a few times, check how it sits in your pocket and use the outer screen for a few minutes. If you buy online, note Apple's return window in your country.
Our take
At $1,999, iPhone Duo is a luxury first-generation product. It is a big step for Apple, but people who mainly want the best camera or the lightest phone will still be better served by an iPhone 18 Pro.
