Almost six years after launch, Cyberpunk 2077 is still getting big free updates. CD Projekt Red has released the Edgerunners 2 Update (version 2.5), timed with the second season of the anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which premiered on Netflix on 20 October. The studio detailed it in a post on Xbox Wire. Here's what's new.
A new gig that's a prequel to the anime
A job from fixer Wakako turns into a high-stakes mission alongside Weak Kingsley, a well-known merc and one of the main characters of Edgerunners 2. It takes place in a new location, Night City Prison, and works as a prequel to the series, so CD Projekt suggests playing it before episode 1. You can also unlock Weak's full outfit and his signature revolver, Coronation, and tune into a new radio station, HKGN 102.FM, with tracks from both seasons of the anime.
Dual wielding pistols and revolvers
You can now hold a pistol or revolver in each hand. The studio calls it one of the most significant combat additions since Update 2.0 introduced throwing knives, and Photo Mode gets matching dual-wielding poses.
Mods inside the game, on every platform
A new Mods panel powered by mod.io lets you browse and install supported community mods directly in the game, with cross-platform support. The selection will depend on which mods get support over time.
Glamdocs: style your chrome
New vendors called glamdocs, at five locations around Night City, change how your cyberware looks, with 40 styles in different colours. The update also adds 20 hairstyles and several clothing sets.
Quality-of-life fixes
The stash now has filters, and each V gets a separate save library, which helps if you run several playthroughs. Explorers can hunt 12 new minor arcana tarot cards and take Night City Tours narrated by the city's late founder, Richard Night. Photo Mode adds frames inspired by the Cyberpunk trading card game.
Xbox Play Anywhere and platform notes
Cyberpunk 2077 now supports Xbox Play Anywhere: one digital purchase lets you play on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, with progress carried between them. The old Xbox One version is not part of this: it stopped receiving patches in November 2022, and post-2022 updates require an Xbox Series X|S.
