Losing the Apple TV remote between sofa cushions is a classic, and Apple has finally made it easier to deal with. iOS 27.2 adds the Siri Remote to the Find My app, 9to5Mac reports. The update also brings changes to Photos, Messages and Siri.

What changes in Find My

Until now the Siri Remote was the one Apple device missing from Find My. There was a way to locate it through the Remote control in Control Center, but few people knew about it.

After updating to iOS 27.2, open Find My and go to the Devices tab. Compatible Siri Remotes, 2nd generation and later, now appear there next to your other Apple gear.

Why the timing matters: the new Siri Remote

The change lines up with the 4th-generation Siri Remote, which makes the feature much more useful:

  • Precision Finding: your iPhone can guide you step by step to the remote, the same way it does for an AirTag.
  • Built-in speaker: the remote can play a sound so you can hear where it is.

The new remote comes with the 4th-generation Apple TV 4K and is also sold separately for $59. Apple says it works with all Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD models, but Precision Finding needs an iPhone 17 or newer. With older iPhones or older remotes you can still see the remote in Find My; you just don't get the arrow-style guidance.

How to set it up

  1. Update your iPhone to iOS 27.2 (Settings > General > Software Update).
  2. Make sure the Apple TV and iPhone use the same Apple Account.
  3. Open Find My, tap Devices and look for the remote.
