Google Photos Memories are great at resurfacing old trips and family moments, but the soundtrack Google picks doesn't always fit. Now you can switch it off. As Android Authority reports, Google has announced a toggle that disables background music in Memories.
How to turn it off
Once the option reaches your account, open Google Photos settings > Preferences > Memories and switch off Background music. After that, Google Photos stops adding random tracks to Memories. Memories that contain video clips still play their recorded audio.
Two things to know:
- The setting also turns off music for your End of Year Recap.
- You can still add music manually to a Memory, and Google says it has refreshed the music library with new options.
Rolling out gradually
Google says the toggle is available across all platforms, but it appears to be switched on from the server side, so it may not appear immediately even on the latest app version. If you don't see it yet, give it a few days.
