Tesla is bringing the second-generation Roadster back on stage. The company has scheduled a new reveal event and will livestream it on YouTube or X, InsideEVs reports.

When it starts

  • 7:55 p.m. Central Time / 8:55 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, 15 October
  • 00:55 GMT on Friday, 16 October — that's 03:55 in Kyiv

The event was originally planned for 1 October but was pushed back because of bad weather. No stream link had been published at the time of writing.

Nine years of promises

The Roadster first surfaced in November 2017, when Elon Musk unveiled it at the end of the Tesla Semi event. The headline claims were ambitious: a 200 kWh battery, about 620 miles (roughly 1,000 km) of range, a top speed of more than 250 mph and a 4.2-second run to 100 mph. Since then, the car has been delayed repeatedly, with Musk occasionally teasing it on X — including suggestions that it might somehow "fly" and that it would be the "last best driver's car".

What to watch for

InsideEVs expects modest numbers this time: even with today's batteries, a much smaller pack than 200 kWh seems likely, which would make the 620-mile figure hard to reach. The bigger questions are production — timing, volume and price — since Tesla's earnings depend on the Model 3 and Model Y rather than a low-volume sports car.

We'll only know what's real once Tesla shows it. Until then, treat every figure above as a 2017 promise, not a spec.
