Ring's first smart lock has a hand-cranked dial for when the battery dies
Ring announced a smart lock you can power back up by turning a dial, four new Retinal Vision 4K cameras and a Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam 2K. The lock reaches the US in early 2027.

Ring has announced its first smart lock. Its main selling point solves the most common complaint about smart locks: what happens when the battery runs out.
A power dial in the lock
The Ring Smart Lock has a built-in power dial. If the battery is flat, you turn the dial a few times and the lock wakes up. There are four ways in without a key: a fingerprint reader, a backlit keypad, the Ring app and Alexa. The lock connects through Amazon Sidewalk, so where it sits relative to your Wi-Fi router does not matter. It fits a standard single-cylinder deadbolt and needs no extra wiring. It will go on sale in the US in early 2027 in black, silver and brass.
Four more 4K cameras
Ring is also expanding its Retinal Vision 4K range:
- Outdoor Cam 4K Plus, available in battery, plug-in, hardwired, solar and PoE versions;
- Spotlight Cam 4K Plus, with a 550-lumen light;
- Floodlight Cam 4K Plus, which supports 24/7 recording on a subscription;
- Indoor Cam 4K, with a 115° view, Wi-Fi 6 and a privacy shutter.
Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam 2K
The new indoor camera pans 360°, tilts 175° and follows motion automatically. When its shutter is closed, it disables both the camera and the microphone.
The Outdoor Cam 4K Plus is up for preorder in the US, UK and much of the EU. The indoor cameras are on sale in the US now.
