After more than two and a half years in Early Access, Enshrouded reached version 1.0 on 15 October at 16:00 CEST (17:00 in Kyiv), Keen Games confirmed in its launch announcement. It is also the game’s console debut on PlayStation 5. Here is what matters.
It costs $39.99, with a launch discount
Enshrouded sells for €39.99 / $39.99 on Steam and PS5, with a 10% discount for the first 14 days. Co-op supports up to 16 players on PC and 8 on PS5. An Xbox Series X|S version is planned for spring 2027. Keen says more than 5.5 million players took part during Early Access, which brought 8 major updates, 14 patches and 42 hotfixes.
The whole map is open, including Cinder’s Cradle
The 1.0 changelog opens all of Embervale. The new northern biome, Cinder’s Cradle, pairs a lava wasteland with floating islands above it. Two more Hollow Halls dungeons open, and the edges of Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes gain new areas. The main storyline gets its conclusion — “for now”, as Keen puts it.
Higher level cap, new enemies and spells
The player level cap rises to 50, and gear can be upgraded to 55. A new faction brings 14 enemy types (37 new enemies counting variants), and mages get 9 new spell types, eternal spell versions that never run out, and summonable skeletons.
Sparkworks turns bases into adventures
Sparkworks is a logic system with a 2D graph editor. It lets players wire up switches, traps, puzzles and enemy encounters. Combined with Adventure Sharing, it can be used to build parkour courses, arenas or escape rooms for others to play.
Better visuals and voice acting
A new brick renderer keeps distant terrain and player builds detailed instead of turning them into blocks. The update also adds per-biome lighting and atmosphere, improved global illumination and HDR support. Lore notes and key survivors are now fully voiced in English, German and Mandarin Chinese.
Your old save comes with you
Early Access saves are backed up and migrated automatically to a new format. The skill tree is reset on first load in 1.0, so remember to spend your points again before heading out.
