IO Interactive has given the Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light a release date: 18 March 2027, Eurogamer reports. The Hitman studio's James Bond game is already out on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

From summer to spring

The Switch 2 port was originally expected this summer. About a month ago IOI said it needed more development time and moved it to an unspecified date in March; that date is now fixed.

In its press release, IOI says it brought hands-on builds to gamescom and Tokyo Game Show, where players and press got their first chance to try the game on Nintendo's hardware, and that "player response from both events has been positive". The team will use the coming months to keep refining the game's "optimisation and performance on Nintendo Switch 2".

Bringing big current-gen games to Switch 2 is hard work for others too. Capcom's Monster Hunter Wilds team has described getting its game running well on the console as a "painstaking" process.

Pre-orders and extras

  • Deluxe Edition pre-orders for Switch 2 opened alongside the date. It adds extra outfits and gadgets in-game.
  • A recent update on the other platforms added New Game Plus, a harder difficulty, a photo mode, more replayable TacSim challenge missions and general tuning. Eurogamer expects these to be in the Switch 2 version as well, but IOI has not confirmed the full feature list.

A hit for IOI

First Light has been one of 2026's standout releases and has passed 4 million sales, according to Eurogamer. Amazon, which now owns the Bond franchise, has said it wants to be involved in any follow-up. IOI is also continuing Project Fantasy independently after Xbox pulled out as publisher.
