Powertrains and range

As Electrek summarises, the line-up keeps three powertrains:

  • RZ 350e: a 79.6 kWh battery and a 221-horsepower front motor, with up to 301 miles of range.
  • RZ 450e AWD: the same battery plus a rear motor and Lexus' DIRECT4 all-wheel drive for 308 hp combined and up to 260 miles.
  • RZ 550e F Sport AWD: 402 hp combined and 0–60 mph in 4.2 seconds, the quickest RZ. It also gets M Mode, which simulates the feel of an eight-speed manual gearbox.

Every version has a NACS port on the passenger side, so owners can use Tesla Superchargers without an adapter. A 10–80% charge takes about 30 minutes, according to Electrek. If you will charge mostly at home, our home EV charger guide explains what to install.

Equipment

NuLuxe upholstery is standard, while Luxury and F Sport trims get Ultrasuede seats and laser-etched Ultrasuede door inserts. All 2027 models include a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats and a 14-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Why the price matters

Demand for the RZ has picked up since last year's update. Electrek reports that Lexus sold more than 10,000 RZs through September, up 91% from 5,340 in the same period a year earlier. It also notes that the base RZ costs $7,500 more than a Tesla Model Y ($39,990), which offers up to 321 miles.

For buyers, the 350e looks like the sweet spot on range per dollar, while AWD costs $3,500 more and gives up about 40 miles. Whatever you choose, our EV battery care guide covers the habits that help a pack last, and our LFP vs NMC explainer explains the chemistry trade-offs behind range figures.
