Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 VO2 max bug on track runs: Samsung confirms fix
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 isn't showing VO2 max after Track Running workouts, even with good GPS. Samsung confirmed the bug and promises a fix in a future update. Workaround inside.

If your Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 has stopped giving you a VO2 max reading after sessions on the athletics track, the watch isn't judging your run. It's a bug, and Samsung has acknowledged it, Android Authority reports.
What's going wrong
A user on the Samsung Community forums posted screenshots showing that the watch logged a Track Running workout but showed no VO2 max value. Samsung Health claimed the run didn't qualify. Its requirement is at least 10 minutes at 4 km/h or faster in an area with a good GPS signal. The screenshots showed the runner had gone well past both limits, and they said GPS reception was fine.
The same watch did calculate VO2 max for outdoor running sessions, so the problem appears to be limited to the Track Running mode.
Samsung's response
A forum moderator replied that Samsung's developers have confirmed the issue and plan to fix it in a future software update. There is no timeline yet. Samsung Community itself is about to go offline for three days, as we explained in our Samsung Community shutdown story, so the next update on the thread may take a little longer to appear.
What you can do now
Until the fix arrives, log track sessions with the regular Outdoor Run mode if keeping your VO2 max trend up to date matters more to you than the dedicated track mode. Outdoor runs still produce a reading. If you're curious what that number really measures and how far you can trust it, our guide What is VO2 max on a smartwatch? explains it. Samsung's other recent running features are covered in our Samsung Health running coach story.
