Ford has opened orders for the 2027 Mustang Mach-E, and the headline change is simple: the electric crossover no longer comes with a standard-range battery. As Electrek reports, every Select and Premium model now uses the larger 88 kWh pack, and the cheapest version still starts just under $40,000.

Prices and range

The base Mach-E Select RWD starts at $39,995 before the $2,045 destination fee, or $42,040 all in. That's a little more than the cheapest 2026 car, but last year's extended-range battery started at $45,345, so buyers who wanted the bigger pack effectively pay less. Ford says a new secondary front motor delivers the same performance as before at lower cost, which helps it hit the lower price.

EPA-estimated range figures quoted by Ford:

  • 88 kWh, RWD: up to 320 miles (about 515 km)
  • 88 kWh, eAWD: about 300 miles (about 480 km), depending on configuration
  • GT (91 kWh): 280 miles (about 450 km)
  • Rally (91 kWh): 255 miles (about 410 km)

Five trims, including a new Trail

The 2027 line-up has five trims: Select, Premium, GT, Rally and a new Trail. Select and Premium come with rear- or all-wheel drive; GT and Rally are eAWD only.

The Trail is a $2,295 package for the Select eAWD that Ford pitches at gravel and dirt roads. It gets retuned front and rear struts and springs, the Rally's steering rack, glossy dark grey wheels, and a body that sits 10 mm higher at the front and 15 mm higher at the rear. It also has 400 W, 12 V Pro Power Onboard as standard, which is optional on Premium, GT and Rally. Ford will publish the Trail's EPA range closer to its on-sale date, expected in the first quarter of 2027.

Driver assistance and packages

BlueCruise 1.5 hands-free driving is standard on the GT and Rally, and optional on Select (with Tech Pack Lite) and Premium (with Premium Tech Pack). On the Trail the hardware has to be chosen when ordering; it can't be added later. The Ford Connectivity and Security packages are standard across the range.

What it means for buyers

A bigger battery as standard matters more than a headline price: it means more range in cold weather and more headroom as the pack ages. Electrek also notes that dealers may have the best deals on outgoing 2026 cars now that 2027 orders are open.
