OPPO has unveiled ColorOS 17 worldwide. The software debuts on the upcoming Find X10 Series and will then roll out progressively to more OPPO devices.
Living Flow Design
The visual centrepiece is Living Flow Design, built around luminous effects, fluid motion and flexible touch feedback. OPPO says buttons and toolbars visibly compress and rebound, while transitions stay continuous across the system.
Under the hood sits a Unified Rendering Architecture on a refreshed Luminous Rendering Engine. In OPPO Lab tests versus the previous generation, it cuts rendering load by up to 30% and RAM used for rendering by up to 25% in key scenarios.
Laminar Flow Engine
An upgraded Laminar Flow Engine schedules foreground and background work together. OPPO Lab figures (versus ColorOS 16) include 55% more stable app launches, Gallery thumbnails up to 50% faster on first launch, and over 25% more apps kept in the background during multitasking. In a six-year simulated-use test, ColorOS 17 kept over 90% of its initial smoothness even with storage at 90% capacity — all lab claims, not independent benchmarks.
Agentic AI features
AI Mind Pilot gains an Agent Mode that can work with on-device photos and files, search multiple sources and chain steps — for example organising files, building trip plans or sorting albums. AI Photo Agent can match a reference image’s palette and mood, or follow natural-language edit requests. AI Mind Space now saves documents and video links into structured memories, with Memory Collections and proactive AI Mind Suggest cards. OSee ties camera capture to recognition, lookup, scanning and translation tools.
Privacy and security
Cloud AI runs through OPPO’s Private Computing Cloud with end-to-end encryption; ColorOS 17 adds post-quantum dual encryption for device–cloud traffic. A new on-device Transparency Report lists AI service use, and AI Call Guard watches calls for synthetic voices and face-swap risks.
Availability
ColorOS 17 ships first on the Find X10 Series, then expands by model and region. OPPO notes that some AI features (including parts of AI Photo Agent and Mind Space) roll out gradually and may be limited in Europe or other markets.
