Google is emailing AI Plus subscribers: from 13 November 2026, Pro models in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search are reserved for AI Pro and Ultra. Plus keeps Flash and Flash Lite.

Google has started emailing Google AI Plus subscribers with a firm date for a change it flagged earlier this month: from 13 November 2026, choosing Pro models in the Gemini app and in AI Mode in Search will be limited to Google AI Pro subscribers and above, Android Authority reports, citing an email shared by a Reddit user.

What AI Plus keeps

  • Access to Google's latest Flash and Flash Lite models, which Google describes in the email as built for speed and intelligence.
  • Older conversations that used a Pro model stay available, but they'll have to continue on a different model.

To keep using Pro models, subscribers will need to move up to Google AI Pro ($19.99 a month in the US, according to the report) or AI Ultra.

Why the date matters

Earlier in October, Google updated its Gemini help pages to describe new limits by tier: free users would lose newer Flash models, while AI Plus would lose Pro models and newer reasoning models, leaving both tiers on Flash and Flash Lite. Those changes were originally expected to apply from 9 October. The email now points to 13 November instead, although it doesn't say why the timing moved.

Context

The cut-off lands as Google pushes its higher tiers: it recently began rolling out Gemini 4 Argon to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, along with new task-management features and integrations with more than 40 apps.

If you're on AI Plus and rely on Pro models for longer writing or reasoning tasks, it's worth testing your usual prompts on Flash before the deadline, so you can decide whether an upgrade is actually worth it for you.
